AMD 7840U laptop BSOD when attempting to launch CoreTemp 1.18.1

Post by runward »

Hello All,

I tried running CoreTemp 1.18.1 stand-alone version on a Lenovo P14s Gen 4 AMD laptop with AMD 7840U CPU, but within two seconds of launching CoreTemp and accepting administrator access the laptop BSOD's. This happened a couple times, including after clean reboots.

7840U is a new CPU - perhaps it is not supported yet.

What do you recommend I do to help debug and resolve this issue?

Thank you for your guidance!

Do you still, by any chance, have the windows dump file from this crash?
Or would you be willing to recreate the crash to generate a dump? I'm trying to understand what's the root cause of this crash.

I'm having the same issue - brand new Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 4 with AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U. BSOD immediatly once I launch CoreTemp, driver crashing is ALSysIO64.sys.

I can send you as many minidumps as you like, as it's 100% reproducible. I've attached one.

(I had to zip it, as this forum does not seem to allow the .dmp file extension)

Hi @The Coolest,

I wanted to reply privately to your PM but as I'm a new user on this forum it wouldn't let me, so I'm posting public here instead.

The test build you sent me is still BSOD'ing. I've attached another minidump.

Also, many thanks for supporting us and developing Core Temp! Please note that this isn't urgent, so don't feel pressured to fix this ASAP :D

Thanks. I think now I have a good idea where the issue is.
The issue is in the driver, and will require a bit of a rework to sort it out, so I can't provide an ETA.
I'll keep you updated when I've got something new to test.
