Negative Offset not Working Individual Cores

Post by Mr_Incredible »

Hi.

MSI X570-A Pro MB
Ryzen 3 3600 CPU
AMD AGESA ComboAM4v2PI 1.2.0.2
Memory: 2 x 8GB CMK16GX4M2Z3200C16 @ 3200 XMP
Coretemp 1.18

I need to dial -in a negative offset on a per core basis across the 6 cores. If I apply a negative offset and 'apply to all cores' the reported temp changes on the main screen and the notification icon to show the lower temp. If however, I untick 'apply to all cores' and individually assign a negative offset to each of the 6 cores, any negative offset is ignored. A +ve offset will increase as expected, but a -ve offset is ignored when applied to individual cores. It displays OK if applied to all cores.

A bug I think?

Thanks

That's a bug, but I don't see any reason for this feature to be used today.
It was used back in the Core 2 days, where there was no reference from which to calculate the temperature.
Why do you think that you need to dial in an offset?

Hi.

I had noticed different deltas between a core temp reported by Coretemp and those reported by MSI's utility. I had shown all core temps in the system tray and noticed that the reported (CoreTemp) temps were higher than the MSI, with up to a 6C difference on some cores. Not a major issue, but it was driving me a bit nuts trying to get the individual offset to work in CT!

Cheers

For AMD CPUs Core Temp only reports the Tdie temperature. It is not per-core temperature.
I recommend switching to use 1 temp per CPU in the settings.
