Hi everyone,
just wanted to bring the following bug to your attention: sometimes (and always after booting, "start with Windows" is active), Core Temp would show temps which would have melted my CPU - 105-130+ deg C. Restarting Core Temp fixes it and the displayed temps are back into the normal range (50-85 deg C). Noticeably, after I used Tools -> register dump while the issue was occurring, the app fixed itself without any further interaction.
App version: 1.17.1 (the bug also existed in older versions)
OS: Windows 10 20H2, build 19042.1052.
The dump is attached to this post. Please let me know if you need any further system info.
Best regards

Re: Weird temps (100+ deg C) reported for Ryzen 9 5950X
This is odd. I have a 5950X also, and have not observed this behavior.
Ryzen CPUs have a register by which it lets the monitoring software know the way it should calculate the temperature read from the sensor.
It's either "value = temp" or "value - 49 = temp". From the looks of it, Core Temp is not responding properly to this flag the first time around, and so it does not apply the -49 offset.
The temps you see would make perfect sense, I think, if you'd subtract 49 degrees from them.
I sent you a PM with an internal build to look at, please let me know if it corrects the issue.

Re: Weird temps (100+ deg C) reported for Ryzen 9 5950X
Thanks, this helped! Been using it for a couple of days, the issue seems to be gone and the reported temps are also more accurate, actually they are in line with what HWInfo64 reports (I guess due to reading from the same sensor). I like the changes, keep it up & thanks againThe Coolest wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 12:16 pm I sent you a PM with an internal build to look at, please let me know if it corrects the issue.
Re: Weird temps (100+ deg C) reported for Ryzen 9 5950X
I also have a Ryzen 9 5950x-based rig, and I also see the same behavior, normally on the #3 core and occasionally on some other core, like #2 or #9 (it's easily noticed because I have it set to report the highest core temp).
It happens on about 50% of boot sessions.
I've included a screen shot which doesn't capture the moment the cores were reporting the wrong temps, but it does show a session max temp of 115C, which would have melted my CPU.
Any chance I can try out the same test build?

Re: Weird temps (100+ deg C) reported for Ryzen 9 5950X
I think I might be having the same issue, but on a 5800H instead.
When I booted up my laptop, CoreTemp started as usual, but its window was on-screen, and it was blinking in the taskbar.
I saw that the CPU was over 100*C, but I had trouble believing that, as it had just booted up.
So I started HWMonitor to double-check, and HWMonitor reported normal temps: When I closed CoreTemp and restarted it, it also reported normal temperatures again.
Using the latest version of CoreTemp that is out at the moment: 1.17.1

Thanks for bumping this, as I almost missed it.
This issue should be fixed in the next release.
Normally, you can hit F5 or go to File->Refresh and it should sort itself out.
