v.1.17.1 - AMD FX-8320 shows as 4 core, 8 thread

Post by OutbackJon »

I'm not sure if this was present in an earlier version, but my AMD FX-8320 8-core processor is now showing as 4-cores. I know it used to show up as 8-cores. The settings only allow the choices of cores #0-#4 to show.

v1.17 not showing all CPU cores

Post by h4xor555 »

Hello,

The latest version 1.17 is now showing all CPU cores. I tested an earlier version 1.16 and it works without this bug. Please let me know what can be done to address this.

I am on an AMD 6 core CPU

V 1.17.1 not showing all cores

Post by JimP »

Prior to v 1.17.1 Core Temp correctly showed all 4 cores of my AMD FX-4300 Quad-Core (Vishera).

Now it only shows CPU0 and CPU1.

None of the replies indicates the reason for the current version not showing all CPU cores. There also seems to be no resolution to the problem. I can post screen prints to show what is being displayed and Windows monitor to prove that there are indeed 4 cores being reported.

Perhaps I should revert to an earlier version for now? Is that possible?

Many thanks.

Fully agree with The Coolest on this one -- NOT real cores here on such AMD CPU models, which you use.

If you want a CPU with "really more cores", purchase one. :)
(Well, you will need the matching mobo+RAM too, but you get the idea.)

Not reporting all cores

Post by cuulblu »

I have an AMD FX 6300 processor which has 6 cores. Core temp is only reporting 3 cores. Why is it doing this?

Device name Kens
Processor AMD FX(tm)-6300 Six-Core Processor 3.50 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

It was a recent change. It now reports the modules as "cores" and cores as "threads".

AMD FX 4130

Post by Quaxth »

Hello to all!

I'm new to this forum and came here because of a discrepancy I saw the first time.

Okay, I use a Desktop Computer with AMD FX 4130 CPU with 4cores and 4threads. The board is an Asrock 970 Extreme3 with Socket AM3 and 16GB of RAM. That computer has been several years and I had a few days ago some problems with the RAM. Asked a technician and he told that that machine is out of work and damaged!
Firstly I installed a different mainboard and got that to work with the old RAM 2 pieces of that old RAM. Just, that mainboard a Gigabyte was much smaller and could just use 8GB of RAM and had a Celeron 2 Core CPU. It worked slowly!

Now, 2 days ago got from a friend 16GB of RAM and tested my old mainboard, just connected it to a PSU and my old GT640 graphic card and found the mainboard just works well again. So, I installed everything old parts back and that worked quite well. While updating the BIOS, I saw that the temperature of the CPU was idle at 55Celsius, and that would be a bit more hot while working on load!
I downloaded some apps to be able to check the temperature while working and both of those Apps were showing that my AMD FX 4130 CPU has just 2 Core and 4 threads instead of 4/4! Those 2 apps are 1.: Core Temp, and 2.: NZXT Cam. The BIOS correctly shows 4/4 for CPU! Please take a look at the picture here: https://i.postimg.cc/VLGHY8tG/TIT-2.png.

Any idea what that means? The temp the BIOS was showing was 55-56Celsius. The maximum temp for the CPU is 70 Celsius.

Thanks for any info.
