CPU Load with Virtual Machines

Post by blaal02 »

Hi,
I'm wondering how CoreTemp measures CPU Load? It seems to be getting the numbers from the local OS. In my case I'm running on it on a VM Host machine, and the issue is that it doesn't account for any CPU load from the guest machines. I'm guessing there isn't a way to request the "load" from the CPU itself - or you'd be doing it already! Might it be possible to run CoreTemp in each of the guest machines, then have the instance on the host accumulate the load somehow?
Thanks!

Yes, Core Temp gets its CPU Load numbers from Windows.
I'm not sure whether it's possible to get it directly from the processor.
In my case, when I use Hyper-V VMs, I can see the load reflected in Task Manager and in Core Temp as well.
There is also no way to run Core Temp inside of the VMs, it just doesn't work, since it requires direct access to the hardware. And the VM infrastructure obfuscates\prevents this.
