Noob: I see 1 core instead of 2 (mobileintelcore2duo)?

Prob noobish question: but how come I see only 1 core instead of the two cores of my mobile intel core 2 duo T7100 (Merom-2M)?

Could you please post a screenshot? Also check Task Manager --> Performance and see how many CPU graphs you have there.
It if you only have one, your OS is only using a single core and it's an OS problem.
Sometimes manually installing "Multiprocessor HAL" in device manager under "Computer" helps. Others state that doing a repair install of Windows fixed this problem for them.

I only see one CPU @ task manager - performance.
I use XP prof. and it is using only one? Anything I can do about that?

You could try a repair install of XP. In the worst case you'll have to reinstall Windows.
