"Power" reading stuck to 3,6 W with 8700K

With my new system (Asus Maximus X Formula+Core i7 8700K) I installed Coretemp beccause I use it since many years.

The problem is, that Power information is incorrect. No matter how har the CPU is working, it is stuck to 3,6 W, moves sometimes higher to 3,7 and seldomly a little higher. Most of the time, it shows constantly 3,6 W.

What is going wrong here?

Interesting, Core Temp isn't getting a reading from the cores, only the uncore.
Can you post a register dump (press F7 or Tools menu)

Thanks. I think it could have something to do with BIOS settings.
It looks like the IA-Cores counters are inactive, so Core Temp can't read actual power consumption.
It's possible that it has something to do with your overclock configuration.
Could you run HWMonitor (from cpuid.com) and see what power readings it reports?

In BIOS, i only disabled monitoring of CPU-fanspeed, because I´m using a water cooling block.

In HWMonitor, its the same situation: 3,6 W nearly all the time.

CPU Benchmark and performance is as estimatible with 5,0 GHz all cores.

Your test confirmed that this isn't a bug in Core Temp. It's likely the combination of your motherboard's BIOS and your overclock.

I´m going to try to find out, witch notch I can set in BIOS to make power monitoring availiable.

I´ll post the result, if I´m able to obtain one.

I don't know for sure which setting can cause this problem. I would suggest resetting everything back to default first to see if there is a change. It is possible that it is a processor problem, although it is not very likely to be the case.
If you keep having the same problem with the BIOS at default settings, then it is probably the CPU. But if you see that power reporting starts working, you will probably have to go over your settings one by one to see which one makes power reporting stop working. I remember some people reporting that replacing the CPU by warranty solved similar problems in the past.

I found it out: The BIOS setting responsible for that is "CPU SVID support", witch I had set to disabled.

When enabled, Core Temp Power reading is working as it should.

I can confirm the SVID enable BIOS option works in fixing the Power reading of the CPU.
