Unicore power trend interpretation

Hello everybody.
I am experiencing a weird (at least to me) trend for the Unicore power estimation.
What I see is that there are substantially 2 power levels in the Unicore estimation:
- a high level at ~11.5 W
- a low level at ~1 W.
When in intensive use, the Unicore power estimation is at high level, but when in idle time, it is not always at low level. I wonder if there is a way of finding the source of these jumps, in order to exploit power saving.

I use a Dell XPS15 9560 with an Intel Core i7 7700HQ (Kaby Lake) processor and a NVidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphic board.

It is 'Uncore', not Unicore.
It's the parts of the chip that are not the CPU cores (IA Cores) nor the iGPU (GT). It's calculated by subtracting the CPU+GPU power from the total package power.
So it could be IO stuff and memory controller, and probably a lot of other things that are part of the chip but are not a core/gpu. The DRAM is a separate reading altogether.

Thank you for the reply, and sorry for the 'i' misreading.
What I am wondering is if is there some way to find the actual source of the power consumption, different than making a lot of trial-and-error procedures.

I'm not sure. As I mentioned, it could be different sections responsible for different things.
