E8500 wrong temperatures

Hi,
I just installed Core Temp 0.99.4 to get info on my G15 keyboard LD. And it works almost good.
The display on the keyboard displays well, but the temperatures are wrong. Temperatures are 37 /42 celcius (core 0 / 1, idle and stressed makes no difference), while Gigabytes EasyTune comes with temperatures from 15 (idle) to 25 celcius (stressed).
config:
E8500 (standard clocked) with Scythe Mugen cooler
Gigabyte X48-DS4
8 Gb OCZ platinum PC2 8500
Sapphire Radeon 4870 1 Gb
Soundblaster X-Fi extreme Gamer

Tnx.

45nm Intel CPUs have a problematic DTS, where temperatures below a certain point will not be reported.
This is called a sticky sensor syndrome. There's no fix for that.
If you let your CPU reach higher temperature, you'll see that the core temps will start moving upwards.

Always remember one thing - with a purely aircooled/fancooled computer, the temperature of any of the cores (or any piece of hardware for that matter) even in idle state cannot get below the temperature of the room the computer is located in. That's physically impossible (laws of thermodynamics). Usually it's always at least a few degrees above room temperature.

Any program that shows a temperature below room temperature is therefore showing a wrong (too low) temperature.

15 degrees idle is therefore impossible unless you have a room temperature below that (which is very unusual), or the air intake of the computer is connected to another room or whatever that delivers air with a temperature below that.

Rado,
the room temperature is low, and the PC gets its air from a cold corner. The temperature from EasyTune matches the BIOS values.
BTW: Getting the intake air from somewhere else seams a good idea.

@ admin: Why can EasyTune get another temp than Core Temp?

tnx for the reaction,
Stephan.

Because Core Temp is designed to read temperature directly from the processor while the BIOS and EasyTune rely on the sensor that's integrated into the motherboard.
