Thats my temperature on idle with my bedroom window opened, normally it's about 18*C-20*C idle, max 39*C under full load with Prime95 / ORTHOS.

Machine is a Dell XPS 710. TAT shows the same temperatures. Are these right?

Well how cold is it outside(ambient temperture) ? looks like some impressive cooling. 40C load sounds about right for a core 2 duo. Dells generally put a huge heatsink in their products lol.

It was rather cold outside, not sure on the actual temperature though. This thing has a huge heatsink / fan on it as well as another fan below it for cooling the PCI/PCI-E cards. And I've put Zalman super thermal grease on the CPU and heatsink as I had to remove the processor heatsink / shroud to change something and didn't feel comfortable recycling the thermal paste that was on the heatsink and CPU.

Just to add, I just did it again.. opened the window up wide, its -10*C outside right now.. after 10 minutes heres the result:

Where the hell do you live??? hahah. if its -10 outside those temps are fine! though i wonder if you would have any condensation problems. i know super cold temps means no or little humidity, but you may have some condensation when warm air and cold air mixes once you open up your window.
