Not loading G15 applet?

Post by DrDoctor »

I commonly use my G15 to display temperature information. After a certain period of use with Core Temp, the applet will simply stop. Turning it on from Core Temp does nothing.

Make sure you're running the latest Core Temp. (RC5, released yesterday\today, the website may still say RC4, but it's RC5 now)
Does it still appear in the keyboard's app list? If it's still there, try to focus on it.
If you close and restart Core Temp does it come back?
Did this start after a new version of the Logitech software, or just randomly?

1. I was unaware there was a new version. That does tend to fix it. Maybe they should code in an update checker. :3

2. Going into LCD Manager (Logitech's program for controlling LCD applets), I found that they were, for some reason, disabled. No idea why, I never touch the applet settings.

3. No, likely because of 2.

4. Randomly. There hasn't been an update since 2010.

1. I'll consider building an update checker. It may be a bit tricky in C++, but worth a shot I guess :)
2. Not sure why it would be disabled. I don't think it's Core Temp, it's possible that some other app that has a G15 applet disables it.

Hello,
I have exact same behaviour with Coretemp last release (RC5).
Logitech ver 8.45.88, Coretemp enabled in applets list (at start of logitech application).
To get Coretemp on my G15 display, I have to force check two times "enable G15 applet" in Coretemp.
Glad to help and sorry for my english ! :)

Edit : that's on Win 8 freshly installed.

I have exactly the same issue as the previous poster just now. I must always re-enable the G15 option on restart.

I also have a Corsair H100i that monitors things through USB. Could this be a conflict?

Other infoz:
Sabertooth Z87 mobo
Intel 4770K
2X GTX 670 SLI
16 GB Crucial something or other @ 2400

Core Temp is usually among the first applications to start when you boot up your system.
Since the G15 software hasn't started yet, this results in Core Temp failing to start the G15 applet.
You can go to Task Scheduler and add a little delay to Core Temp's task, this should allow the G15 software to start before Core Temp and will make the G15 applet start properly.

Makes a lot of sense. If you don't hear from me again it worked, and thank you in advance!

I realize this thread is now 10 years old (gulp), but I'm having this issue, where once the PC boots I need to actually open the running instance of Core Temp and enable the G15 applet (for my G13 keyboard) for it to display.

And with the "new and improved" Task Scheduler in later versions of Windows, it's very difficult for me to find Core Temp's scheduled task (if that's even still how it auto-starts).

Can anyone help me adjust the delay for Core Temp? If Core Temp and Logitech Gaming Software were both services, I could set up a dependency in Service Manager, but it's not listed as a service.

Thanks in advance. :)
