Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 and 10
Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
I have tested RC7 on my Core i7 4770K Haswell CPU computer, and so far it seems OK.
I have rebooted twice without any noticeable problem. I will keep you updated.
BTW. I have now noticed a problem with RC6 on my Intel Core i7 3930K Sandy Bridge computer, so I might try RC7 on that one too.

RC6 freezes my Windows7 x64, too.
It flushes the whole RAM (16GB), and than the System nearly Stops.
Your RC5 Version (you´ve posted for testing) works fine.
Hope this Information will help.

Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
Just signed up as this is also affecting me on Windows 8.1 64bit. At first I thought it might be my overclock or the fact that I'm running AMD's latest Beta Catalysts (13.11 9.4 BETA released on 22nd November) but then Google directed me here
Same symptoms of on a boot, irrespective of whether its a cold boot or warm, Coretemp will start and then crash the system on startup. I've tried the RC5 exe located in this thread to no avail, as it keeps crashing the system.
Any chance of getting hold of the RC7 version or a date when it will be released? Have disabled CoreTemp for now until it becomes more stable as everytime it happens I lose my Steam/Origin details
Cheers
Dino

FX-9590
ASUS Crosshair Formula Z
Powercolor R9 290x
Windows 8.1 64Bit New install.
BUG, INCOMPATIBILITY, or FAULTY BOARD: Coretemp cause bios "corruption" to ASUS Crosshair Formula Z rev.1601, or 1701 when launched in windows 8.1 64Bit, causing Intel onboard network to be unusable. Get error code 10 device could not be started. Clear Bios, network works. Run coretemp, hard crash, bios "corrupt".
Initially (1 day), Coretemp 1.0R6 ran without issues, temps coincided with other probe software. Just heat testing(no over/underclocking/volting) the new box, so I set the option to automatically powerdown on overtemp.
-Last night, the machine went into full 100% fan mode, black screen crash when launching coretemp from a fresh reboot.
-I hard powered it down, reboot.
-relaunched coretemp... works, but temps are way low... like 4C as a max.
-onboard network (!) device could not start error code (10).
-fast forward 1 hour of diagnosing drivers, etc...
-clear bios
-network works!! yay
-launch coretemp. the machine went into full 100% fan mode, black screen crash
-power down
-reboot.
-onboard network (!) device could not start error code (10).
-relaunched coretemp... works, but temps are incorrect
-clear bios
-network works!! yay!!
See that 1701 bios is out, 12/3/2013! awesome.
-clear bios
-flash bios 1701
-boot
-network works!! yay!!
-launch coretemp. the machine went into full 100% fan mode, black screen crash
rinse repeat. This is a new computer and windows 8.1 install, and the bios is set up generic, all auto, no tweaking yet. When the network doesn't work after the black screen crash, the bios settings are all correct, however, something in the bios is amiss.
EDIT/UPDATE: the beta version is working. The issue is no longer repeatable.

Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
I have an HP Envy M6-1302sa with an AMD A10-5750 with Win8.0 x64, i installed core temp rc6 and ran it, the monitor screen appeard and everything seemed ok, but the cpu temp was showing as 0c , then my mouse went very sluggish and my notebook stopped reponding with a small spinning blue circle, and it would not respond to any keys, and i ahd to hold the power button down to shut my notebook down.

Everyone who has posted in this thread or sent me an email regarding this issue has received a PM.
I just wanted to say that RC7 seems to be working well enough to be officially released. It should be available sometimes late this week or early next week.

Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
I changed to Win 8.1 with my new System and also got the freezes with RC6.
After disabling the C1E and C3/C6 states in BIOS the freezes were gone.

Re: Core Temp 1.0 RC5 Standalone
I registered to say thank you for cutting to the chase and solving (working around) the issue without me having to hunt for an older version. With what I was doing when I had installed Core Temp, it was obviously the issue, and the one you linked is getting done what I need and needed quickly. I hope they fix it, because I really love CoreTemp, and it was obviously a widespread issue by the time I got to the end of page one.dypsis wrote:Here is Core Temp 1.0 RC5 standalone. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You can't use the installer as it will just download RC6 again.
Just exit Core Temp, then copy and replace the files in the program folder.
I hope the developer doesn't mind. If you do, just let me know and I will remove it.
Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
I just wanted to say I am having the same issue with Windows 8.1 64 Bit, NVIDIA Graphics , Intel I5 3570K IVY Bridge, G15 keyboard. Would like to get RC7 if possible. If any additional data or testing is needed let me know.
Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
I'm also having freezing issues with Windows 8.1. Any word on when RC7 will be released? I'd like to have it if possible.
Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit

Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
Sorry for the slow reply back. Have been testing out RC7 for several weeks since I received it on a Windows 8.1 Pro system and its definitely cured the crashing/hanging problem on boot

Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
Is there a timeframe to expect when RC7 will be released?
I've also experienced problems with RC6 on windows 8.1 and would like to be able to get RC7
Thanks

Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
RC6 freezes my new i5-4670k machine (Win8.1 x64) every time I press Apply in settings. If it's installed on the system SSD, it does this freeze always, but if installed on another HDD, it sometimes does not freeze. Waiting for RC7...
Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
It's already probably being implied, but, yes, RC6 freezes Server 2012 R2 as well.
However, can I use RC5 with a Haswell cpu? Or will I definitely have to wait for RC7 for complete Haswell stability?

Re: Coretemp RC6 Freezes Windows 8 64bit
As soon as I launch CoreTemp, it just hangs the system.
