*I know that this post is very old, and most likely irrelevant today, but I'm going over the forums and replying to all the threads I missed.
Was this with RC3? And did Core Temp work before on this system? Maybe an older version? Have you been able to resolve the problem since?

I have been having this problem for a long time with all iterations of CoreTemp including RC3. CoreTemp is very picky as to the company it keeps among apps that start when the system boots. For a long period it will obediently start when I log on, but when I install another program set to start when I log on the chances are that CoreTemp will fail to start with a message that the driver has failed to load. Win 7 64bit

I have same problem with RC3.
EventData
Core Temp.exe 1.0.0.0 4f1ffc96 Core Temp.exe 1.0.0.0 4f1ffc96 c0000005 000000000005c085 be8 01cd462d3d0eac57
It seems GIGABYTE X79 mobo does not allow Core Temp RC3?? I use GA-X79-UD7 with F10/F11f bios. OS reinstall did not help it. but I noticed that 0.99.8 standalone version works fine.

I'm having the same problem. After a recent Windows Update, Core Temp crashes and gives me a similar error message, "CPU temperature and system information utility has stopped working" and then "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." No other message appears.
I am running a home-built PC with the following hardware:
Operating System MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz RAM 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (9-9-9-27) Motherboard MSI Z68MA-ED55 (MS-7676) (SOCKET 0)
Below are my Error and Information logs from Event Viewer.

It looks like some programs seem to cause Core Temp to crash. See this thread: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=2309

Box Sync and JustCloud are the two sync applications that I know of which caused Core Temp to crash. RC4 is now out, it fixes this incompatibility.
