1.0 RC3 stops working when overheat protect temp reached

Postby dsaxman » Tue Mar 27, 2012 4:14 am

Hi,

Having an issue where I turn on overheat temp protection and when the temperature is reached, Core Temp blows up with the following error message in the Application Event Log:

Faulting application name: Core Temp.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f1ffc96
Faulting module name: Core Temp.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f1ffc96
Exception code: 0xc0000417
Fault offset: 0x0000000000062150
Faulting process id: 0x4b0
Faulting application start time: 0x01cd0bce29447fdc
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Core Temp\Core Temp.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Core Temp\Core Temp.exe
Report Id: 88ed503e-77c1-11e1-876a-50e549c81c40

The Overheat section of my config file is as follows:

[Overheat protection settings]
EnableOHP=1;
NotifyHot=0;
Balloon=1;
Flash=1;
Execute=F:\downloads\distributed.net\dnetc519b-win64-amd64\pause.bat;
EnableShutDown=0;
ProtectionType=0;
ActivateAt=1;
Seconds=30;
Degrees=125;

I have tried running both dnetc.exe -pause as the path as well as the batch file referenced above. Does the same thing if I pick C:\Windows\System32\notepad.exe as the path.

I originally had this set at 140 degrees to pause dnetc, yet it does it at any temperature I specify.

From the Core Temp log file:

00:01:26 03/27/12,123,,,79,123,100,3120.79,
</end of file>

No error is logged to log file when it blows up.

Here is my PC info from the control panel performance info/tools applet:

Try to remove the batch file execution and try again.
The error number suggests that the crash occurs at the call to that file.

Still happens when I remove the call to the executable:

Faulting application name: Core Temp.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f1ffc96
Faulting module name: Core Temp.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f1ffc96

Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Core Temp\Core Temp.exe

New config section:

[Overheat protection settings]
EnableOHP=1;
NotifyHot=0;
Balloon=1;
Flash=1;
Execute=;
EnableShutDown=0;
ProtectionType=0;
ActivateAt=1;

What is the exact Windows version and localization that you have?
I was not able to reproduce the issue.
Try to delete the ini file and restart Core Temp and see if that fixes the issue.
Make sure that you're using RC3 - it should say 'Core Temp 1.0 RC3' in the title.
