Core Temp Accuracy

Post by silent54 »

I have the newest version of core temp running on my Win 7 64bit machine. The processor is a i5 2500k. The question I have is about how accurate is core temp. My ASUS board has it's own monitoring software and there is about a 10c degree difference between one another. Core temp is higher. I'm running water cooling and the temps aren't high during load but just wondering about the accuracy. Thanks

I'd say that Core Temp is more accurate, especially at higher temperatures.
The ASUS programs sensors are based on the motherboard and depend on an external chip. The sensors Core Temp reads are located in the CPU itself and the values are read directly from the CPU registers.

Thanks for the reply. Just want to make sure. Not worried about temps, which never exceed 45c under load considering I'm running a single loop with two GPUs.
