Re: Multiple fail windows when restarting from sleep

Post by The Coolest »

I got an email from a user who suggested a fix.
This could have been caused by Windows itself. If you go to Task Scheduler double click on the Core Temp task.
Go to Conditions tab and uncheck ALL of the checkboxes, even those that are grayed out. And restart the task.
Whoever got a PM from me with the link to the beta, can simply delete the Core Temp task and download the new beta and enable the "start with windows" option.

Version 0.99.7.7 seems to have fixed this issue based on some preliminary testing. I unplugged and replugged several times without it "acting up." I also put the laptop to sleep and came back without it happening both on battery and plugged in. Will see over the next few days if it happens again here. Thank you.

Everyone please read and follow these guidelines to prevent the crashes that some people are reporting still happening.

Re: Multiple fail windows when restarting from sleep

I'm going to post a simple step by step guide for the non-techy people to get over this issue as painlessly as possible.
  1. Click on Start and type in Task Scheduler in the Start Search box, then press Enter.
  2. In Task Scheduler click on "Task Scheduler Library".
  3. Double click on the "Core Temp Autostart" task.
  4. Go to the "Conditions" tab and make sure to uncheck every single checkbox, even the ones which are grayed out by enabling the parent option and then disabling them all. In the end, this is how it's supposed to look like:
    Image
  5. Click OK.
  6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for every "Core Temp Autostart" in the list.
  7. Reboot or log off and log back on again.

cpu fail message popping up indefinitely

Post by logos »

happened earlier today when pulling the AC plug from my laptop. Seems like Coretemp didn't like the transition phase to battery mode. Exiting coretemp was not enough to stop that, I had to reboot.

See this topic, it is exactly the same problem as yours :

Did you try the latest version of Core Temp, this issue seems to be fixed in it.

okay thanks guys  just a bit surprised that it makes a difference whether grayed out settings are checked or not. But I did uncheck them and tried to unplug again, and it's okay :)

edit: okay I see now too that I don't have the latest version, I got 0.99.7.3 and the latest is 0.99.7.7, will install that now.

Crash under Win7

Post by DTCbill »

Hi guys!

I have seen something strand with CoreTemp. Everytimes I unplugged my laptop while it's still running, CoreTemp crashes and the I got an error window. That window is poping over and over again every secondes (maybe because the refresh rate is 1000ms). I have to stop it from the Task Manager. After that, it's working like it should.

I'm running CoreTemp 0.99.7.3 64bit , on Windows 7 64bit.

Screenshot of the error message :

v0.99.7.7 still crashes when going to battery mode

Post by muddymind »

Hi!

When i switch my laptop to battery mode, core temp goes to an infinite loop (one of my cores goes to 100%) and I have to manually stop the process in the task manager.

This happens on my laptop (intel Q9000, win7x64) and on my sister's laptop (intel t2300, win7x86).

see ya

ps-And thanks for this handy tool :D
