Update sidebar gadget for I7 series?

Post by ibsteve2u »

Any plans to update the sidebar gadget to permit the display of 6 cores as my I7-980X has? Included is a registry dump; doesn't appear to be critical to the sidebar gadget but perhaps it is useful to you.

Can you try out this version?
I've reworked it quite a bit, and now it should be able to scale correctly with the number of cores in the processor.

Sorry about the delay - such fast action on your end certainly deserved a faster response on my end, but I have to plead guilty to "Well, I was getting even more toys in and the system simply was not up and in the same configuration long enough to test it.".

Except for some difficulty in getting the previous version uninstalled (folder already opened warning etc.; reboot and uninstall again and all's well), it works a champ. See screenshot. (Note the other gadget is showing the hyperthread "cores", too.)

I suppose you could call the overhanging "(ES)" a "cosmetic defect", but I won't; I'm too grateful!

Great to see that it is working.
I updated the code so that it will resize to fit any number of cores automatically. I'll also take a look at that overhanging part.
BTW, are you using Core Temp 0.99.6? Because it's not supposed to detect the CPU as an ES...
I recommend you get the latest Beta, which is supposed to fix Gulftown recognition problems with the first 0.99.6 release.

OK, I just downloaded the beta. Can you blow those attachments/images away? I just glanced at them and realized the WiFi gadget shows my external IP. I get enough "casual" and uninvited visitors; no sense in challenging somebody to OC this rig for me. Thanks!

With the beta, the ES detection (and overhanging text) went away. Now the displayed core/multiplier/bus agrees with CPUID (with rounding).

Such speedy responses...I am impressed.

Done.

Could you please upload a screenshot and maybe a register dump from the new Core Temp?

Sure. Will be a few; dumped the box preparatory to moving it to my computer room proper, but I'll hook it back up as soon as I get through installing the new Radeon in this one (this measly little core 2 quad 9550...hope the I7 980X satiates me awhile).
