Bugcheck: Windows 10 (Fall Creators Update 1709) Build 16299

Post by mkanet »

It looks like Core Temp is crashing Windows 10 (Fall Creators Update 1709) Build 16299.0. At least on my Intel motherboard/CPU. If Core Temp is running in memory (configured for my hardware), eventually Windows 10 will bugcheck. I sent Arthur the respective minidump file yesterday.

Bug check: (aka Green Screen error)
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (win32kfull.sys)

Image

I'm hoping there could be a fix before the official release in a couple of weeks.

Does it crash when you launch the program or after it has been running for a while?
What do you mean by "running in memory (configured for my hardware)"?

Yes, it crashes Windows after it has been running for a while. If I don't launch it, Windows will run without issues indefinitely; even during heavy constant gaming.

"running in memory (configured for my hardware)"... I just meant that the application was running RAM (showing my hardware configuration).

Thanks for your time!

Do you have any other hardware monitor\control software running besides Core Temp when the crashes happen?
I looked at the dump, sadly it didn't provide enough information for me to know where to start looking, yet.

I only have a RainMeter skin which get's it's information from CPU Temp to display CPU core usage and temperature. I will try running CPU Temp without RainMeter; and, close all other applications.

Whatever it is, the same exact software configuration and apps were 100% stable on Windows 10 1703 (Creators Build). As soon as I upgraded (with only the OS being different), the crashing started (If core temp is started). I will post once I test my PC without any other applications running except for CPU Temp.

My apologies. It appears the bugcheck IS a Windows 10 bug in Fall Creators Update due in 11 days. It's reported by users on Microsoft Insider Hub as a reproducible bug that hasn't been fixed yet.

It doesnt look like Core Temp has anything to do with this. Sorry for taking up your time!
