New FX-8370, Inaccurate core temp readings ?

Post by Alteris »

I'm new here so bare with me if this isn't exactly the right place to post this :D.

Ok to my issue, I recently installed a new CPU into my ASRock 990FX Extreme 4 mobo, that being the FX-8370. How ever after installing Core Temp, along with its Gadget I am getting what I think are Odd readings. As in Very low temps like 64F-72F range at Idle, have even seen mid 50s in the mornings.

Now my previous CPU, which was a 955BE @ 3.8GHz Idled around 90F on average.

Is Core Temp reading my temps wrong or em I missing something here ?

Here's a few screenshots I took with Fraps, that may help :/. As you can see 3 out of the 4 get the same readings, but you would assume that AoD would be better at getting a more accurate reading ?

This was actually taken with the mobo's own app for reading temps etc, which I think are far more accurate when compared to my previous CPU.

Note that the only time I have ever felt this new CPU get Warm at all is when I am encoding in Sony Vegas, anything else and its pretty much cool air coming out the exhausts on my case.
