How's this...

Postby CoreTemp-User076 » Tue Nov 18, 2008 7:36 pm

First post here... be gentle w/me... :)

My system:
Asus P5B Deluxe, E6600 w/stock cooling, , 4 gig/Corsair XMS2 PC6400 C4, nVidia BFG 8800GTS, Seagate Barracuda 400GB, Dell 2001FP @ 1600x1200, BenQ 1640, Lite-On 401248, floppy drive, PCPower & Cooling Silencer 610, Lian-Li PC-A16 Case with 80 or 120mm (I don't know which) stock fans: one lower front sucking in, one upper-back drawing out. OS- Win XP -Pro

Nothing is OC'd...just recently DL'd "Core-Temp". With Explorer as the only app running, and @ 38 "processes" running in background per Windows task mngr., core temp reading right now is @ 55c.

What do you think?

Appreciate your input.

Those stock coolers fill up with dust easily. Have you tried cleaning it?

I have the case open now...everything was cleaned a few weeks ago...

I just replaced the stock front Lian Li 120mm fann w/ the Papst...don't notice any difference...not getting enough air flow...I'm not going to bother switching the back one... I will get some more powerful 120x25mm fans instead...what do you recommend?

thx...

err edit:
First try getting full load temps. see what that does. if the full load temps are about the same or not that much higher it could just be fan slowing down to reduce noise. so you can go into the bios and disable fan control. worse case remove the heatsink. see if the Thermal paste made a nice circle on the cpu. if it didnt that means you didnt apply it currently

Just ordered new HSF for the cpu ... Xigmatek S1283. Will put it in next week.

We'll see how that goes.

you also may want to try another intake fan and exhaust fan if you have room to install.

on another note, I personally prefer CPU HSF that direct air flow over the fins and toward the back case exhaust, rather than blowing air flow down on the HS. Dont know which style the HSF your ordered is, I didn't look it up.
