Note about an unusual problem

Long story short, was replacing memory on 4 year old system. Pressing fairly hard on mother board trying to get memory in correctly. Awhile after system back up and running started hearing beeps from computer while doing virus scan. Downloaded Core Temp and sure enough CPU was hot. Here is the point, the silver conduction grease had developed gaps under the CPU heat sink because of my flexing of the mother board when installing the memory modules. The grease had apparently dried out over time and couldn’t handle the flexing. Anyway, just thought someone else might run into this and would appreciate the heads up. Thank you Core Temp, it verified that I got it fixed.
