a discrepancy on Pentium 4 Shuttle XPC

I just downloaded CoreTemp 1.0. I plan to use it on a new PC running Windows 7 x64 with an i5-2500 CPU, but am trying it out on an older PC with a Pentium 4 running XP SP3.
The PC is a Shuttle XPC. Shuttle has a fan-control and overclocking utility called XPC Tools. I am not overclocking but use XPC Tools to control the fans.
XPC Tools reports on "System Temp" and "CPU Temp".
System Temp=41C.
CPU Temp=44C at idle and spikes to around 56C when I move this forum window rapidly around the screen (in Chrome browser). CPU Cooler fan is set to kick into overdrive at 55C, and it does kick into overdrive.
However, Core Temp reports no change in Core temperature when I move the window arouund. Its Core #0 reading stays at 41C. It seems Core Temp's Core #0 reading matches the XPC Tools "System Temp" reading, not its CPU Temp reading. I don't know which is correct. Is it possible that Core Temp is reading the wrong value?
Thanks
