broken temperature sensor ?

Postby tzugu » Fri Mar 12, 2010 11:01 pm

I have a Intel Q6600 CPU + Abit AB9 MB and I get strange temperature readings.

In BIOS I get 89°C and this is also what usually the CoreTemp shows me. But it also happened to see -26°C. Or even -26°C on a core and >80°C on another.

What can be the problem ?

Is the CPU or its temp sensors broken ? Can it be the MB or the BIOS ?

If you get 89c in the BIOS then your processor is most definitely overheating, it's not a sensor problem, since the motherboard doesn't report temperatures based on the DTS but from an onboard sensor.
You should fix your cooling ASAP.
