The icon text color does not change regardless what I select in the settings. It always stays at the default yellow colour which because I have a gray task bar is impossible to see.

Does anyone have an earlier version compatible with Windows 7 32 bit?

This appears to be an issue with RC6 as this is a brand new clean installion of windows.

This should work fine.
You have to go to Options -> Settings -> Notification Area and click on the "Text" button while Core #0 is selected in the drop down. Then when you select a new color, you should see the change take effect as soon as you click OK in the color checker.
