Will not install

Post by Snapafun »

I used to have Core Temp installed and working fine then recently I started getting "Not Working" dialogues so decided to uninstall and update.

No luck.

Here is what I get when I try to run either installer ( direct download or 'More downloads' 32 zip ):

I have also tried running either as administrator and as user with admin rights. Same story.

I have chosen the "Debug the program" option a couple of times but have no idea where to find the results of this.

Any ideas anyone?

Running Windows7 all up to date. AMD 64 Athlon X2.

Did this start after some Windows update or any other kind of software that you have installed?

Not sure if that is relevant because, as said, I started from scratch.

When attempting to use the direct download the install dialogue only progresses about halfway and stops there - nothing appears to happen on the surface however TaskManager show two instances of this installer running.

And as said above, I also downloaded the 32 zip and tried installing that only to get the dialogue as per my original post.

AND YES, I did stop the services running from previous attempts before starting afresh.

As for installing other apps - this system is always trying new apps and programs, most of which I un-install with Advanced uninstaller Pro complete with a registry clean.

I'm careful about what I install and though I do not like Ask on my system in anyway, I have tried the option of allowing it through my firewall with a view to un-installing it afterwards. This option made no difference whatsoever. So now I need to find how Ask is on my system and ensure it is safe this time.
