Display Only Works As Native Windows

I closed the on screen display using the Close setting in the GUI, and now when I try to restart it, it will only display the data in a window in the native Windows style. I went through the Options and also the ini, and can't find anything that looks as though it would effect this. How do I do so?

I'm not quite sure what you mean.
Could you please upload a screenshot of the problem?

That would be difficult, since I see no provision in the Reply window to attach anything.

Thanks, I guess that I'm going blind. I've attached the window as it now appears, but obviously can't do that for the gadget, since it no longer appears.

I'm not sure I'm seeing the problem.
Although you're using an outdated version of Core Temp, everything else seems correct.

Now you have me more confused than I started out. The question was how to enable the gadget, not whether the program was working properly otherwise. If that is not understandable, then we both are wasting our time.

Thanks for the link, but I shouldn't need it. I didn't remember until you posted it, but I did use the gadget when I first installed Core Temp, but forgot that I did so. Therefore, the question remains as to how to enable what I already have. Since I only used the close command on it's GUI, I assume that it is still installed somewhere, even though I don't see it in Programs And Features.

Ohh. Ok, now I think I understand.
You have to right click on an open space of your Desktop, then on Gadgets. Then double click on 'Core Temp'.
Also, make sure that you have version 2.7, it's the newest available.

That did it, thanks. I knew that it had to be something simple. Outside of the fact that 2.7 is the latest version, which I'm sure is better in some way, why is it important to upgrade, if the version used is working?

It's not crucial, just recommended.
2.7 will display an occasional news notification (the same way 2.6 shows that an update is available, at the bottom).

Hmm, I doubt that I will upgrade then, because I particularly dislike built-in news features.

Oookay, maybe I will upgrade then. It would seem that you are the logical person to ask...AMD says that the max temp on my processor is 62 degrees, but Core Temp deals with TjMax instead, which is apparently 70 degrees, 8 degrees hotter than the published maximum. Since it appears that TjMax is based on core temp, rather than the overall temp, and by the time that it would reach 70 degrees, the overall temp would be much, much hotter. I guess my question is which temp is actually more critical? It would seem that the temp that hit max first would be.

AMD publish TCase Max temperature on their website.
TCase is the temperature at the top center of the CPU's IHS, which is not the same as the temperature Core Temp reports.
Both are "critical", it's better not too good to go over 60C under load anyway.

That makes sense, but I know of some people on other forums who think that as long as the temp is below TjMax, that they are safe. I never used Intel, but from what I understand, the core temp runs higher than the Tcase temp, but that isn't so with AMD. It would seem that the Overheat Protection might give some a false sense of security.
