Intel i5 2410M processors

Post by DynaBMan »

I recently had to purchase a new computer and decided to go with a laptop, a Lenovo V570. It's processor is an Intel core i5 2410, which the dxdiag system information tells me has 4 processors. When I activate Core Temp, it only finds 2 cores, instead of 4. Is there something I need to change in the settings or is this a bug?

Also, the TJMax has been set by Core Temp at 212°F, which makes temperatures hover around 90°. This is much cooler than the other monitor programs I have tried were showing me. Their TJMax settings were at 100°.

Mobile Core i5 is a dual core CPU with 4 threads (it has Hyperthreading), thus Windows shows you 4 processors when in reality there are only 2 physical cores.
You don't have to change anything in the settings, and that's normal.

Core Temp lets you choose whether to display temperature in Fahrenheit or in Celsius, 212F is 100C.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. The highest core temperature showing in my taskbar, after watching a TV show on the laptop, is showing 97°. Does that sound about right? Also, can you explain why Core Temp shows the temperature to be so much cooler than the other monitoring programs? They seemed to hover between 120°-125°. I have tried Real Temp, Hardware Monitor, and Rainmeter.

At default settings, Core Temp and RealTemp should probably displays very similar readings, I'm not sure why there's that big of a discrepancy between the two apps.
90-100°F sounds fine, and you shouldn't worry. Even 120F is still in the safe range.
