AMD dual core processors show differently

Post by videobruce »

One in a tower and the other in a Laptop. Both are dual core processors, but they show differently. The desktop shows one frequency and two cores, the laptop shows two frequencies and only one core. :?:
Please explain this.

AND Turion M600:

I read the FAQ, but didn't see the Turion listing. Then, what about the rest of the differences? One freq. vs two? Why isn't the Brisbane showing two frequencies?
I will upgrade to the newest version thou I just got this within a week or two.

New AMD cores are capable of running at different clock speeds in the same CPU depending on the load. The Athlon64s aren't.
The new generation of CPUs have only a single thermal sensor, compared to a per-core sensor in the Athlon64 chips and so I used to space gained from not having extra temperature readings to display the CPU frequency on a per-core basis.

The new generation of CPUs have only a single thermal sensor
Cost cutting or they felt it wasn't needed?
BTW, your program is a far cry from MBM. Gotta love programs that you don't have to install.
