In Windows:
1. You use the Start Menu to start programs or access things not available in programs.
1. You use Control Panel to uninstall programs.
See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... u-overview for reinforcement, but it's been this way since at least 1995 (Windows 95).
Core Temp is violating this paradigm with its Start Menu uninstall shortcut.
Please only put a shortcut to the Core Temp program in the Start Menu. If you do this, you don't even need a Core Temp folder in the Start Menu, eliminating a "dry click".
Uninstall link doesn't belong in Start Menu

Re: Uninstall link doesn't belong in Start Menu
I'm not sure why this bothers you that much.
There are plenty of software which also include an Uninstall shortcut in their start menu entry.
I just went over my programs and I can safely say that more than 50% of them have an Uninstall shortcut.
If you don't like that you can just delete it from the menu after install, I guess.
And I can not see any paradigm violations there, no where does it explicitly state an uninstall shortcut should not be included in the start menu, it's not even suggested.
OT: Moved out of "Bug reports".

Per http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... aspx#files: "Don't put shortcuts to the following items on the Start menu: ... Program uninstallers. Users access uninstallers through the Programs control panel item."

Fair enough.
I've implemented some of their suggestions into the installer and the changes will be available with the next release.
Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Uninstall link doesn't belong in Start Menu
I installed Core Temp 0.99.8.0 - 64bit. I have no entries in either my Start menu or Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Win 7 Home Premium SP1 on an HP Pavilion dv6 notebook with an Intel Core i5 M460 quad core processor at 2.53GHz and 8GB RAM.
Should I be concerned? Did I install incorrectly? How do I know when there are updates to the program?
Thank you.

Re: Uninstall link doesn't belong in Start Menu
- How did you install it? By the installer or did you get the standalone ZIP file? The ZIP is a simple archive, therefore it doesn't install anything.
- No need to be concerned, it's a simple recognition problem, which will be fixed in the next release. Other than that, the rest of the information is accurate.
- Regarding updates, right now the best way to keep up to date with Core Temp is through its Facebook page.

Re: Uninstall link doesn't belong in Start Menu
I have reinstalled using the installer. I had 99.7.3 which I uninstalled and deleted with some difficulty. I had to delete some items manually; no big deal. I am now running 99.8.The Coolest wrote:- How did you install it? By the installer or did you get the standalone ZIP file? The ZIP is a simple archive, therefore it doesn't install anything.

I have liked the FB page and I will check periodically for updates. Hopefully, an update will make it possible to accurately track all 4 cores in my Intel Mobile i5 540M processor. HOWEVER, I noticed that while the Core Temp window indicates I have a Mobile Intel Core i5 540M; I actually have an i5 460M.
Thanks for your work; a donation will be forthcoming.

Re: Uninstall link doesn't belong in Start Menu
Glad to hear that you sorted everything out.
Your processor is a dual core with hyperthreading, making it appear to the OS as if it is a quad core CPU. So as I've mentioned already, the only issue with 0.99.8 is the incorrect model number.
