Intel Atom Z530 gives incorrect temperatures?

Post by JonCage »

I'm running Core Temp 0.99.6 on an Intel Atom Z530 (Silverthorne) but despite it benig about ~23°C in the office, the software reports core temperatures of ~7-10°C. I'm fairly sure those are wrong, so what temperature offsets do I need for this core?

Some Atoms need to have an offset of 25-35 C added to report correct temperature.
If your system has no fan (or it is not running), then a temperature of 40-45c is to be expected.
If it is, then around 30-35c should make more sense.

Also make sure you check in later today, a new version of Core Temp will be released.

Thanks for the speedy response. Is there any way of getting an accurate offset? I had a look at the datasheet for this atom and it says tjMax should definitely be 90°C.

I'm running with a tiny fan and the heatsink just feels warm to the touch. So an offset of 30°C would seem appropriate.
