CoreTemp Gadget - minor bug

Post by Sope »

Hi,

I'm experiencing a very minor (but irritating) bug with the CoreTemp Gadget.

Lack of text padding on the processor id line appears to be causing an overlap with the righthand edge of the gadget causing an annoying pinkness!
gadget.JPG
(looks more obvious in real life!)

Win7 x64
Desktop DPI at the default 100%

I know it's hardly a priority but I thought you might like to know for the next update.

Cheers.

The problem should now be fixed.
I've shortened the fields, so they should not go into the purple-pink part of the window.
It'll probably cut some of the text, like the (Lynnfield) part, but it should not be showing the pink part of the text anymore.

Core Temp gadget is now version 1.3
Uninstall the old gadget by following the Readme.txt file.

Wow, thanks for the quick response!

The new Core Temp gadget v1.3 fixes the bug perfectly for me.
It doesn't cut off any of the text either.

P.S. Thanks for a great app, the combination of Core Temp and the gadget works brilliantly. :D

Thanks.
Core Temp Gadget v2.0 looks great and works fine on my PC.

I would definitely use it if it wasn't for the fact that sadly, due to the increased size, it no longer matches the gadget I use for monitoring my GPU (http://blog.orbmu2k.de/sidebar-gadgets/ ... bar-gadget).
I know I'm probably being a bit fussy, but I'm happy staying with v1.3 for this reason.

That would be great!

Thank you very much for responding so helpfully, I can appreciate how much effort you obviously put into your software.

Hi,

The gadget was updated, you can get the new version.
If you wish, you can give it a rating using the MS Live link, but they haven't updated to 2.1 yet, so download it from here:

That was quick!
I've tried the latest version of the gadget and the resize option is great.

I see you've also made a couple of other changes, i.e. moving the RAM MB usage line above the temp readings and adding a RAM percentage reading in it's place.
Sadly my brain finds it more intuitive to see RAM usage represented in MB's (e.g. 1200/4088MB) rather than simply as a percentage, so in this respect I was more comfortable with v2.0. Also by adding the extra line above the temp readings the gadget feels more cluttered with text and is also more difficult to read if the size of the gadget is reduced.
Maybe the option to choose which lines are displayed could be added to any future update, along with the option to choose how RAM usage is represented?

For this reason my favourite version of the gadget is still v1.3 though the option to choose the colour of the readouts in the newer version is a nice addition.
Just to add, a feature present in all the versions that I find very useful, is the clock speed. I'm not overclocking but as I have an i5 processor it's interesting to see the Turbo Boost feature in action.

I hope you don't mind my offering some feedback, and please don't think I expect you to make any more changes just for my benefit.

I introduced the change to the ram bar to give the gadget a more uniform look.
In the next release you will be able to select which text labels are displayed and which are not. The memory usage bar will remain the same as it is right now, even if you disable the memory usage label, though.
