Overheat protection

Post by windy81 »

I love this little gadget so i'm more than happy to help by reporting a bug, so that it can be addresed and made better for future users.

So first off.

The overheat protection doesn't work as it should and this is why.

Just about and hour earlier from now, my water pump failed. The overheat protection did not kick in and the CPU temps were well into the 90 degree Celsius for a Phenom 955 and i had no idea about ti until everything began getting jerky and weird on screen. I promptly pulled the power plug and thankfully it works.

Thing is i set the overheat protection to "activate at a specific temperature"....
little did i know this setting is not saved, since downloading the latest version, problem still exists.
Settings only exists and remain active until it's restarted.

Also the toggles are not working either as they should, which is cumbersome to describe, so I'll say it's enough to say the toggles just don't work.

I really relied on the overheat protection and since i relied on it to work I'm rather lucky my computer still works after it failed.

If like me you have Win7 x64 please have a look for yourself and I'm sure you'll see what i mean.

any more information you need, email me or whatever. Quite happy to supply further details if required.

It is very strange to hear about it not saving the settings because I just tested it on my machine and it worked.
In which folder do you keep the Core Temp executable? Does it manage to save the rest of the settings correctly?

the core temp folder is saved on the desktop. Should that be a problem ?
op.JPG
this is a picture of how i want it. another thing is i want the overheat protection to kick in at 45 degrees and immediately switch the computer off.

however, every time i set the temp, i then go to shut down options, and choose power down after 0 seconds.
By doing this the "activate at a specific temperature" toggle becomes grayed out which i can only assume means it is deactivated.

this is a picture of it after restart

hope this helps

is this user error or a bug ? but the interface does seem unclear so perhaps an improvement can be made.

There is a UI bug, I also stumbled on it two days ago. I've fixed it for the next release.
I'll try to check and recheck this feature again to make sure it works properly before releasing the next version.

In the mean time, can it be enabled in the .ini file? If so, how?

Thanks.

The bug in overheating protection remains unchanged in the newly-released bug-fix version, why?
