VID not shown with i7 860

Post by Ghanja »

I am running an i7 860 on an Asus P7P55 LX and fore some reason the VID is not shown with coretemp. OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. Am I doing something wrong or is there a fix necessary. I have attached a register dump too.

Thanks.
The Core i3/5/7 series do not report VID anymore. Since voltage control is now done by a circuit on the processor die itself, the motherboard no longer needs to "know" about CPU VID states, so it's no longer reported by the processor.
In short, this is normal, and don't worry about it.

Ok, thx for the info. I was not sure about this since it is shown using CPU-Z.
