Very strange, I've never seen this error.
Does the whole taskbar crash?

I'm getting the same error. Clicking "No" on the debugger window lets the gadget start normally, and it works fine, but it's annoying to have to do so. When I click "Yes" I only get an error about not being able to create the application directory, but that could just be something to do with my installation of Microsoft Script Editor.

I run CoreTemp with the gadget on both my computers. I installed Office 2007 on both at the same time, and soon after that I was getting this error on one of my computers but not the other. Never saw the error before then. Both are running Windows 7 x64. The one that gets the error is a recent Intel-powered MacBook running Boot Camp. The other's an AMD-powered regular PC.

Would be keen to find a fix for this curious problem.

I get this SAME error.

I can confirm the problem ONLY happens when you have windows 7 x64 installed with Office 2007. I had the gadget installed and everything was fine. I installed Office 2007 and had the issue. I tried the usual troubleshooting, which was uninstall of the gadget (fixed the issue), re install the gadget (issue returned), uninstalled office 2007 (fixed the issue), reinstalled Office 2007(issue returned).

The problem is caused by some way that office 2007, Win 7 x64 and the gadget interface. It appears that there is a slight bug in the gadget control that now breaks syntax that used to not cause an issue. Almost like coding a complex function that is supposed to return true or false, but one of the paths accidentally doesn't return anything, and the function is a check of some sort, so thats why the gadget works after you basically ignore the error.

It really does stink to be honest with ya. Every log on, every reboot I have to deal with that damned sidebar deal with the gadget. And I bet the fix is damned simple too.... I never have written a gadget, but do have VS2008 and VS2010 installed and if the person who wrote it wants me to look at it, I would be more than willing to help...

I want to add that I had a similar install but NOT on a core i7 machine with Win 7 64 and this gadget and it worked just fine. I didn't expect to see this happen, but from what I can tell this seems to be related to something that maybe different in the HAL used by Windows 7 64 when there are HT threads and how it handles its scripting engine with the sidebar... If the developer wants to contact me he can I guess through this board... I can setup a goto meeting and show you the error... it happens on gadget install and when it tries to fire up the first time.... that way you can see first hand th error that we all are seeing here....

In re-reading the posts, it appears I was wrong... Seems that Office 2007 is installing something that is the cause of this error. As soon as I remove it, the error goes away... I install it, and it comes back. I have Office 2010 and much rather use that, however, the funny thing is... there are some issues with Excel that I haven't figured out quite yet and its causes the sumations on the conditional sum's to not work.... otherwise I wouldn't be even dealing with this error... even tried Office 2007 SP2... still get the error...

***************** I FOUND A QUICK FIX IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED ***********************

I found where the gadget is installed and opened the gadget.js file in notepad. In the OnLoad function (should be the first javascript function you see) you will see a line that reads "debugger;" without the quotes.

To fix it and stop the debugger from starting, you need to just comment out that debugger line and you do so by placing "//" in front of it, so "debugger;" becomes "//debugger;"

This will stop that screen from popping up and for those of you whose gadget ran fine after they ignored this error, this is a safe fix for you to get this to run. If anyone else is having other issues with the program, he or she should contact the developer.

All I did was block the gadget from calling the debugger. Being a developer I actually stepped into the windows 7 sidebar code to see what was causing this to fire off and was able to work back through gadgets in a matter of a few minutes to figure out how to help those who love this app but don't love this error.

Cheers!!

I updated the gadget, so now it shouldn't display the request to debug anymore.
Follow the readme.txt file for removal instructions.
