CT Hangs after it's induced a hibernation

Post by markhurd »

I reported this before, but the only record I can find now is I'm still subscribed to this now non-existent thread.

Anyway, it's happened again and I debugged the hanging CT and found it in a tight loop checking if the al register is non-zero.

My guess is something needs a Volatile Read instead of a normal one.

Using the debugger, setting al to 1 allowed normal operation to continue.

Interesting. Does this happen every time you resume the PC from sleep or hibernation or only some times?

No, I've just checked and when I hibernate the laptop CT continues to work fine afterwards.

Also, I think CT may respond normally if it is not displaying the "Wait fo 30 seconds?" dialogue box when it initiates the hibernation.

But, yes, after every CT initiated hibernation where the "wait for 30 seconds?" dialogue box is still displaying when the computer is resumed CT has been hanging for me.

Just confirming my details: CT version: 1.3 - 32bit (and I think I've seen this in previous versions)

HP EliteBook 8440p
CT reports:
Model: Mobile Intel Core i7 740QM (Clarksfield)
Platform: rPGA 988 (Socket G1)

I have the same issue, consistently. The process hangs, taking some 40% processor time, I have to kill it manually.

Running on a Dell XPS 13, i7-2637M, Windows 10 64bit. I have serious heat issues, the fan does not always respond properly, the system can overheat without the fan doing it's best, so I need the overheat protection all the time. No idea if it is a hard, firm or soft problem, drives me nuts.

Thanks for reporting this problem. I was finally able to track down the cause of this issue, and it should be fixed in the next release.
