CoreTemp on Win10 Tech Preview 64-bit

Post by Mark Phelps »

I've been using CoreTemp v1.0 RC6 on Win10 TP 32-bit for a while and it's worked without problems.

But, since I upgraded the memory on my desktop, I decided to switch over to the 64-bit version of Win10 TP (build 9879).

However, CoreTemp has problems with the 64-bit version of Win10.

I checked the forums and found the download for the RC7 version -- and installed that.

Also installed the All CPU Meter and the CoreTemp meter using the Win8 Gadget pack -- which installs and works OK.

Problem is that while CoreTemp installs and runs (i can see the temps in the system tray), it will not work with either meter.

The All CPU Meter (v4.7.3) says that CoreTemp is not running. (I know this is not your problem, just mentioning it in case others have dealt with this gadget).

The CoreTemp meter (v2.7) starts to open, stops, and displays the message "Library error!"

In Win10 TP 32-bit, both meters worked with CoreTemp without problems, as is the case with Win8.1 32-bit.

Is there a setting I can change to solve the Library error?

For the gadget to work you have to install .net 3.5 in Windows features.
After that it should work.
Have you used a 3rd party sidebar or did they bring it back in Win10?

THAT explains why it suddenly worked today. I installed an app yesterday that forced the install of .Net 3.5!

I use the 8GadgetPack -- 3rd party gadget manager that works great in Win8 and Win8.1. It also works great in Win10 -- and it's free!
