Temp 0 with 1.0 RC6

Post by kookykrazee »

I have used coretemp on my systems for quite some time and this is the first time I have run it and gotten 0 temp. I saw only one mention of the 4600M AMD APU related to adding it to the detection, quite some time ago. But, even though it appears the model/platform/load are all updated and showing, the temp reading for CPU #0 is 0 min/max. Any help would be awesome. If it helps, it's an HP laptop and I have been able to get the processor up to 100% load with no changes.

Thanks!

The temperatures are not the 0ºc but still does not show the correct temperatures.

AMD x750k user here, the temps for trinity/richland chips are completely messed up. I don't even know if the Gigabyte EasyTune one is right. All you can do is match the temp in there with others.

Speedfan lists it as IT8728F Temp 3, HWMonitor as TMPIN2 and hwinfo as ITE IT8728F but, its only at load that these temps are the same, at idle they are 10'c less. Some have completely different temperature readings for "Cpu"

Coretemp is always @ 0'c.

So what to believe? I guess the only option is to go safe and trust the temperature from your motherboard manufactures software, you should notice from there which temp that corresponds to in other software when under load. Beware it will most likely not be the same as the socket temperature or even the NB core temperature which I have seen other software mix up.

I would be willing to test any new revisions of CoreTemp if its possible to get to the bottom of this :)

Here is an interesting read: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-21 ... -apus.html

Regarding the above link, since it seems no one can prove the calculation of the load/idle temps are correct due to the differences in measurement, supposing its impossible. Why not include a measurement like in AMD overdrive just showing how close you are to the thermal limit and then use the Socket Temp to measure how low the temp is idle? Have them separate is much better than an inaccurate guess which seems to be the case with a lot of monitoring software.

I have no idea how the calculations are made, but if the max temps of each CPU are published, perhaps a calculation can be made for load temps based on how close you get to the thermal margin in AMD Overdrive?

Just an FYI, I can see the same issue - core temp max and min both 33F - with 64-bit 1.0 RC6, CPU is an AMD A6-5400K, running Windows 8.1.

Because I'm also facing this problem and strongly believe believe that this issue is because of some windows update installed, which might hinder the coreTemp to work properly. Does anyone else second me on this?
