AMD APU A10 5800k Core Temp issues

Post by OCMAD »

Hi all,

There was a previous thread on this topic however it looks quiet dead/inactive.

My AMD APU A10 5800k only shows 1 core on Core Temp RC6 (CPU #0) and this is at 0°C (note: there is no (?) after this) . When I stress test with Prim95 it stays at 0°C. I have also tried Core Temp RC5, this is still only showing 1 core (CPU #0) however the temperature is extremely low at about 0-20°C at idle (note: sometimes when it is at 0°C a (?) is present after the 0°C ). When I stress test, this does increase to about 25-35°C. I know that this is wrong because I have a stock cooler.

Does anyone have any thoughts to a possible fix to this? I am really keen to start overclocking this build and water cool it.
Thanks in advance!

There is a problem with APUs. The current method of reading temperatures seems to read 0C or very low values when the processor is idle. Only under stress it shows actual temperatures.
The problem is not with Core Temp, but the way these sensors are implemented on the CPU. The next version should fix this in to some degree, though.
