First I want to thank you for this awesome program! :)
What does very soon mean?.. It's over three weeks over since you said this.
Are there problems or why have you not released RC7?

I used this program 24/7 on my windows 7 laptop. Just built a new 4670k, GTX 770 & Win8.1 Pro PC and would love to use it again. Currently it just makes my system inoperable upon launch. I tried running it in compatibility mode for Win7 and there was no change, just a hung up system.

Many thanks for the developer making this GREAT program available free of charge. I believe this is the best available tool for measuring and monitoring your CPU temp for seeing if your gear is running at safe temperatures. The only thing I ever missed here was to see my (laptop integrated) GPU temp too :) :)

Just installed the SW into my friends new laptop to show him how great it is, but unfortunately in his HW is completely freezes the laptop. So I decided to spend 10min of my time and leave a report here hoping it helps you to debug and keep doing your great work.

System:
Win 8.1
Lenovo IdeaPad S400
i3 3217U
4G RAM (one module)

Took the latest version, it was called 1.0 RC6

Just spent a very frustrating morning debugging my system trying to figure out why it was suddenly crashing. It started happening immediately after I tried updating Avast antivirus, so I assumed it was that at first but I uninstalled it and a ton of drivers and nothing worked, was pulling my hair out and getting ready to reinstall windows. Ironically I disabled every single startup program EXCEPT for Core Temp, since it's always been stable for me and I was still assuming it was either AV or drivers or something. Finally managed to tell Core Temp to not launch at startup and my system is fine now until I launch Core Temp again.

I read through the thread and it looks like there was supposed to be an RC7 to fix this months ago... What's going on? Thanks for the great software by the way, it's treated me great until now.

In case it's needed, I'm running Win 8.1 on an i5 3570k.

Hello Coolest, i have found about this issue right now when i started to open core temp RC6. It just freezed my PC and i needed to restart. I thought was something about my PC, i investigated and it turned out to be Core Temp, why ?

This software worked for years for me, what did you do now to make it this way ?

I see many people having the exact same issue with latest core temp.

Using gtx680, latest drivers, 3770k no C1E,C3,C6 active !! Using windows 8.0 64-bit.

Getting a event viewer error Kernel-Power: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Event ID 41

Could i have an answer ? Why the hell it freezes all the system ?

I've got the same problem with RC6. My CPU is an Intel i7-4770K, model C, stepping 3. My operating system is Win 8.1.
Explorer freezes as soon as I start CoreTemp :(

Also freezing here, new pc build, fresh install. But in my case both RC5 and RC6.
Setup:
Windows 8.1 Pro x64
MB: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5 TH
CPU : Intel i7 4770K, Model C, stepping 3

EDIT:
SpeedFan (ver 4.49.0.403) is acting weird as well. On first run screen went white and pc froze, I rebooted. On second run it started up. On third run screen went black and froze. Event logs doesn't contain anything useful.

EDIT 2:
SpeedFan issue apparently was related to Intel Rapid Storage Technology http://www.bugtrack.almico.com/view.php?id=2149
Removed it and SpeedFan seems to work fine now.

Hi there,

Also just did a brand new install of windows 8.1 and found RC6 hangs my system a few seconds after I type in my password at windows logon. It worked beautifully with Windows 8, but 8.1 seems to be the culprit.

Was wondering if I could get in on the RC7 beta? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks in advance.

cheerios

edit: got it - not one crash so far
update: RC7 still going strong without a single crash

PM the administrator (creator of CoreTemp) and ask for RC7 (that's how i obtained RC7)

I am also having this issue since RC6 was released last October. Is there a way for me to test the RC7? or do i have to use RC5 at the moment? thanks a lot!

Hi, I'm using coretemp many years. It was always gives me the right temps of my proc. (always AMD).
I have built a new rig with a AMD A10-7850K and Asrock FM2A88X motherboard. But coretemp RC6 do not give me any temps.

greetings, Hennie

Just wondering about the RC7 release as well. I recently moved to Windows 8.1 out of necessity and I'm really missing CoreTemp. I'm getting the "I can move my mouse but nothing else works" syndrome that many others have already detailed here. For the record, i7 3770k on an ASRock Extreme4, Nvidia graphics.

Thanks!

when this happened to u, simple solution :

when enter desktop, quickly press ctrl alt del, task manager, click coretemp>end process (do it fast, before hang)

after, i can uninstall or delete the unzipped folder
