Yeah, I'm a bit suspicious of the accuracy as my new system is reading 32 degrees on the CPU. This is an AMD APU A4-5300 dual-core on an ASRock FM2A85X-ITX motherboard. Something tells me this may not be quite right.
I'm trying to determine why the system shuts off during the night and when I start it, it's the Window's "Windows did not shut down properly..." message, so I know it's just abruptly shutting down. AC power is not the problem. I have a UPS on the system anyway.
Maybe it's getting too cold?

Re: My CPU Runs At 32 Degrees Fahrenheit
This is a problem with AMD's implementation of the sensors. It looks like when the CPU is idle the thermal sensors do not work correctly and just show a temperature of 0C\32F.
Try to put some workload on the CPU and you should see the temperature go up.
0C\32F does not make sense unless your machine is outside and it's well below freezing.

Hi,
I have the same problem. I have an AMD A6-5400K and when it's idle it displays very low temperature. is this going to be fixed?

This isn't something that can be fixed, sadly. Unless AMD does something about it and implements a proper DTS into their chips.

If it's a problem with AMD, why do other temperature monitors work fine? The Coolest wrote:This isn't something that can be fixed, sadly. Unless AMD does something about it and implements a proper DTS into their chips.

Re: My CPU Runs At 32 Degrees Fahrenheit
It is a problem with the way their sensors are implemented on the processor.
I don't know which other monitors work fine, I assume they use the motherboard based sensors.
All of the DTS readings are the same, no matter what software you use.

Core Temp - Accurate temperature monitor for Intel's Core/Core 2 and AMD64 processors
Re: My CPU Runs At 32 Degrees Fahrenheit
AMD engineering has advised that none of the current temp monitor programs accurately report the CPU core temps on the 15h series CPUs. I expect that the latest AMD APUs use the same core temp sensor output and thus the temps will not read correctly at temps below ~40C. From 40C upwards the temps are suppose to be closer to being correct - again this is info. is directly from AMD engineering.
As The Coolest noted many temp monitoring programs read the mobo BIOS/CPU socket thermister and typical call this the "CPU" or "CPUTIN", etc. temp. These are not the core temp that AMD is talking about and that Core Temp is reporting. The "CPU" socket temp is insignificant since Intel and AMD switched to internal core temps and thus should be ignored. The "CPU" temp can read 10C-25C higher than the core temps depending on CPU/APU load and socket cooling. That's why core temps are what AMD and Intel use to determine the temp cut-in point for excessive temps so that they can throttle the CPU/APU as needed.
