Coretemp RC5 Freezes Windows 7 Ultimate X64

Post by Pedroc1999 »

I downloaded your program and was amazed by its features and how well It went, but everytime I reboot or start it again it will freeze my PC in a way that it needs to be hard reseted. I had to do a system restore to before installing for my PC to work again. Is there anyway to fix this as this is the only program that fulfills my needs

I just downloaded/installed RC5 and it freezes my screen. Doesnt seem to load properly in the program files. Desktop icon maintains rc 4 as does the interface keep the rc4 in the top border. but the program files has some rc5 in the config file as if it had worked. I get past the post and boot but freezes when the desktop appears. I have AMD FX8120@4.2gz, 990FXA UD3 board in win7 x64. Just adding my 2¢ as an AMD FX CPU user.
I Should probably add: I have another computer i built with the AMD Gigabyte 890FXA UD5 board and AMD Phenom II Thuban x6 1090T BE in Win7 x64 and it works just fine. no issues at all, simple download and installation. must be the FX CPU?

Same problem here. After upgarding my 1100T Phenom II to FX 8350 my system freezes. I had to reinstall all from scratch just to found out that was coretemp the faulty app.....
Where can i find a previous stable version?

Same problem here... it's a good thing I stumbled upon this thread before deciding to re-install windows.

Was on Phenom X6 1090T with no issues, system freezes after installing the FX-8350 when launching the core temp app...

Sometimes I'm lucky it will launch but most of the time it just locks up the system :(

Using AIDA64 right now ... but the g15 applet just doesn't feel the same..

Same problem with FX-8120 on OEM ASUS Board.
Where can I get RC4?
The windows event log says
"Fatal Hardware Error:

type: error by HyperTransport-Watchdog-timeout

Maybe it is a little bit different from the original because I've had to translate it.

Bluescreen on Win 8

Post by Satan »

Hello,

I'm using Windows 8 Pro x64 and I got a Bluescreen after reboot since I updated to RC 5. After reinstalling windows, uninstall ati-driver and G Data (AntiVirus and Firewall), memorytests, HD-checks and search for viruses I tracked the error down to ALSysIO64.sys wich is loaded from C:\Users\Satan\AppData\Local\Temp (the last Entry in ntbtlog.txt). This is also the file the Bluescreen is referring to (with message "Page fault in nonpaged area"). The Bluescreen appears some time after reboot but not in safemode and not the first start after safemode (could be random though, visit safemode only 3 times and each time after that Windows booted correctly in normal mode). Randomly a boot didn't last in bluescreen but most time it does.
I will try to confirm CoreTemp as source by unchecking the "start with windows" checkbox and present the result later (maybe tomorrow). I'll post my hardwarespecs and might give you any information you want, still have a memorydump from the bluescreen and a ntbtlog from a successful boot.

Greetings
Satan

Hardware:
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme 4
UEFI Version: P2.30
CPU: AMD Phenom FX 8150 (no overclocking)
RAM: G.Skill 8GB KIT Sniper PC3-14900U DDR3-1866 CL9 2x4GB (Running in DDR 1600 'cause of problems with board)
Graphics card; AMD Radeon HD 7800 (no overclocking, no GHz edition)
HD: SAMSUNG HD204UI ATA Device - 2TB, two partitions, one with 100 GB for Windows

Software:
Windows 8 Pro x64
Core Temp 1.0 RC 5 standalone.exe with german language)
All Drivers are Windows 8 standard drivers except AMD Catalyst Display Driver and Control Center (no HDMI-Driver and so on)

(Ask for additional software if you need)

Edit:

I can confirm my suspect, after unselecting the "start core temp with windows"-checkbox I was able to boot 6 times without bluescreen, after setting the box again the Bluescreen appears.

My issue sounds somewhat the same. I have an AMD 6100 And if I have core temp set to start up with windows my system will crash on startup. If I just start Core temp myself after startup no problems. Windows 7 64bit

I had a similar issue just a moment ago. I am running Windows 8 Pro x64, I had the "page fault in nonpaged area" error related to "ALSysIO64.sys". I was going to try restarting my computer to test the error again, but I found out that Core Temp was related to the issue and didn't want to do provoke the bluescreen if I didn't have to. Instead, I just turned off Core Temp for the time being.

I have a few similar components to the person who started this post.

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 (BIOS up to date @ version 1602.)
CPU: AMD FX-6100 (Formerly overclocked but not anymore.)
Memory: Corsair Vegeance Low Profile PC3-10700H 2GB x 4 = 8GB Total (Normally 1600, but running at 1333.)
Graphics: XFX Radeon HD 7850 (Not overclocked.)
OS Hard Drive: Seagate ST350032 SATA Drive (466GB total space.)
Addtional Devices: Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-E 1x Card (In 16x slot.)
- Creative Tactic3D Rage Wireless Headset (USB Powered)
- Dual Monitor Setup (One HDMI @ 1440x900 and another VGA @ 1600x900 through an HDMI port.)

Operating System: Windows 8 Pro x64
Drivers: All directly from ASUS, AMD, & Creative (respectively).
Anti-Virus: AVG
Other Software on Boot: Advanced SystemCare (Recently installed.)
- SkyDrive (Had an error on the boot after the crash.)
- AMD Catalyst Control Center

I could search for more services running if you feel that would help. I might also try removing Advanced SystemCare (at least from startup) and see if that does anything.

I actually had the same issue with CoreTemp on Windows 8 Pro 64Bit which lead to the demise of my harddrive. Drive would no longer show on the Sata controller in Bios. So i Replaced the drive installed everything i had just like before and got the same blue screen ALsysIO64.sys Fault. After disabling everything and one by one testing each program at startup (rebooting each time) Coretemp 1.0 RC5 was the culprit.

This also happens on Windows 7 64bit running on a samsung 840 SSD. When i was running on my WD 1TB platter drive everything worked fine.

Can anyone provide a working coretemp version to bypass this issue?

This BSOD is happening with my HTPC as well. The weird thing is that I've been using RC5 since May 17th and never had a problem until now. Did Microsoft possibly update the ALSysIO64.sys file recently?

Is ALCPU going to do some testing and release a statement? RC6?

I just reinstalled Windows 7 going from 32-bit to 64-bit.

I just installed Core Temp using the latest installer "coretemp_1236.exe". Whenever I try to run it my computer locks up.

I tried again by just running Core Temp from the 64-bit zip file "CoreTemp64.zip". This works fine.

Is the installer installing the 32-bit version instead of the 64-bit version on a 64-bit system?

Update: Now Core Temp (64-bit) is hanging the system. It seemed to work ok for a while but now as soon as I start it the computer locks up. I am removing it until there is a resolution on this.

I now need something that will work with Windows 7 (64-bit). Anyone have any suggestions?

Core temp RC5 lockup on Win 7 Home Premium

Post by dazbobaby »

I just want to say first off GREAT PROGRAM!
But the past few days have been a nightmare, I was getting random lockups, so today I reinstalled windows 7 and started the reinstallation of all my apps and games.
No problems at all, all updates done for all apps and windows, then it came time to install core temp. Fine again until I actually ran the program and now it will freeze the PC completely, only a reset or power off will get me back up. Safe mode is fine.

Mobo - gigabyte 970 UD3
Bulldozer 8120
16GB Ram

Please fix this asap as this program is worth the effort for everyone.

I see from the forums that this issue has been going on for a few months now so I really hope some kind of fix will be coming soon . Here is what I am experiencing . When I install RC4 Or RC5 my computer freezes at next boot also I loose my network functionality when I restore my computer to an earlier time , don't understand that part at all . Just knocks my network controller out completely until I reset my BIOS on my motherboard . I'm not an ignorant kid here I'm A+ certified and have been working in the computer industry for about 15 years now . This issue is really bugging me because I need to run this software in order to run my desktop gadget for System Monitor II .

My computer configuration is this ,
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit , Gigabyte GA990FXA-UD3 motherboard , Corsair Dominator DDR3 1866 - 16GB , 8 core AMD FX 8320 cpu Overclocked from 3.5 GHz to 4.0 GHz , Seagate Baracuda 7200rpm 64mb cache 1Terabyte with 2 partitions 300GB for O.S and 650GB for storage , Gigabyte AMD HD 7870 2GB video card , Antec Earthwatts 750 watt PSU .

All parts in this computer are 6 months old . I was using CoreTemp v0.94 before I updated to the new RC4 and RC5 but both cause a major issue when booting to Windows 7 . I really don't understand how this program keeps knocking out my onboard network controller but it does . So I guess for now I will just have to use the older version of CoreTemp just to be able to use the SystemMonitor II desktop gadget .

exact same problem as brad cutter. Basically built a whole new pc with new asus mother board and fx 6300 everything was fine on a fresh install but after launching core temp my pc frooze up and went to a blank screen, on reboot my onboard network card stopped working thinking it was a bad mother board i disabled the onboard networking adapter and installed a pcie card, problem was still there, found out the problem was core temp and if i shutdown my pc and then cycled the switch on the back of the powersupply i would get the onboard nic to work again. been fine now for nearly a month with core temp uninstalled, really hoping there will be a solution as i run core temp on all my pc's. Now im out the cost of the pcie nic but will probably find a use for it but glad its not my motherboard

This update caused a problem with Windows Media Center, for the life of me I couldn't work out what the problem was, WMC stopped recording schedule programmes, wouldn't record anything by using the one touch record, getting tuner errors, wouldn't change channel and kept freezing/crashing until I manually rebooted as even shut down & restart wouldn't work.

I uninstalled RC5 and everything back to normal, I also noticed RC5 wouldn't run at startup even after clicking the checkbox to start with windows, I checked it but it would uncheck itself after I click apply.

The previous version worked without a problem foir the last 2 years on the same computer, I'll have to see if I can find it.

My OS is windows 7 Premium x64
