wrong cpu model

Core temp 1.0 RC4 is showing me wrong cpu.
I have i7 990x, where the prog showing i7 960x?
Strangely enough, 1.0 RC3 showed i7 980x.

I am having the same problem, with incorrect ID. This was happening on v1.0 and now on 1.0RC5. See Dump File Attached.
Running Intel Core i7, 2820QM CPU @ 2.3GHz in Win7 x64

aart12, I was quite tired yesterday and didn't notice this, but there is no problem with Core Temp, but your Windows config.
You're only using 2 of the 4 available cores in your notebook.
Please see section #5 of the FAQ.

Same problem for me with Core Temp version 1.0 rc6

My CPU is an Intel i7 980X, but it is being reported as a 970X.

There is an issue with that particular line of Extreme CPUs.
Core Temp uses the processor multiplier to calculate the model number. When you change the multiplier, it'll report an incorrect model number.

Incidentally, the multiplier is being adjusted by powersavings. Everything is default except FSB which is set by the RAM XMP profile.

According to the register dump, your bus clock is at 143MHz and multiplier is set to x24.
i7 980X runs at 133x25 by default.

I appreciate all feedback, so please don't take my reply the wrong way. I was simply trying explain why the program reported the CPU model incorrectly.
Just to make it clear, it doesn't really matter who or what set the bus/multiplier the way they were set, the fact remains that the multiplier was lowered, and thus Core Temp 'got confused'.
It can be said that it is an issue with recognition of these CPUs, but it is usually very rare and doesn't affect any other parameters of the program. It would probably take more effort/time than it is worth to fix it at this point in time.
