After long time I found why my WIN2003 PC sometimes freezes (screen black, no reaction on mouse or keyboard, disconnected from network). Not any hit in the event log.
When I stop and disable ALSysIO after each restart, then the problem is gone even after weeks no freeze. If I forget this the PC will freeze after some hours or sometimes after some days.
I like CoreTemp and it works fine without the driver (of course it was started with the driver). The freezes are anoying - OS WIN2003, latest Sp and Patches, Mainboard Gigabyte-GA-MA69GM-S2H, just used as file server.
Any Idea ?
And a question. Is there an easy way to get the temp data into Nagios ?
Thanks,
Gregor

Re: ALSysIO freezes WIN2003
Another hint - may be..
I cannot find the file ALSysIO.sys, even if it is shown as running.
Can the issue be related to the fact that I have my Temp folders directed to another drive (E:\Temp)

Re: ALSysIO freezes WIN2003
This is a first. I've never had a report for such a problem.
It's probable that there might be another software colliding with Core Temp and causing the system to lockup.
I also had Windows 2003 32bit, and it used to randomly lockup. It happened on several systems based on completely different components.
I traced it to some kind of strange network traffic issue, and the only way I was able to get rid of that problem until I switched to a different OS altogether, 64bit Vista, and a couple of weeks later, 64bit Win 2003 worked wonders for stability.
ALSysIo is loaded into memory and the physical file is deleted, that is not the problem.

Re: ALSysIO freezes WIN2003
Not sure I should make new post but this seems like similar issue .
I am on win7 64bit and core temp makes a reference line in reg (which can be seen in autoruns>drivers .
It is looking for alsysio64.sys in the user/temp folder , there is none there , in fact search shows no alsysio64.sys file at all .
If I disable the line in autoruns, the next time core temp runs it just enables it back , so seems core temp is looking for alsysio64.sys in the temp folder but even when core temp is running there no file there .
here the actual line from autoruns
ALSysIO File not found: C:\Users\Ed\AppData\Local\Temp\ALSysIO64.sys

Re: ALSysIO freezes WIN2003
Core Temp creates the sys file in a temporary folder, loads it up and deletes the file from the disc as it is not needed anymore.
This is done to make Core Temp function as a standalone application.
So this behavior is normal.
