core temp driver won't load

Post by mjarts »

WXP. SP3
Core Temp ran on Monday, I have been getting error messages for a long time that the copy I have in backup is corrupted.
I started getting a MS message that I'm not connected to Automatic Updates; which isn't entirely accurate.
My System Mechanic 11 started acting up [I think, I can't really remember after the last 72 hours], so I've uninstalled the AV program a few times, and it also has a driver installation challenge. In the process of all of this, I lost access to all unsecured [http] sites for about 12 hours.
I did something in the registry that WXP didn't like so I used the Registry Fix option, and the internet is working again.
I downloaded the latest version of CoreTemp and it won't load.
I'm not enough of a geek to have written notes on all that I did or why; and I don't keep track of all of my components, and don't want to pull the information of the machine.
Are there any common reasons that the CoreTemp driver won't load, in a WXP environment? It's a good program, I'd like to get it back; don't want to have to reformat and start over.

Core Temp requires the user to have administrator rights for it to work correctly.
If you're logged in as admin, try to reboot and run Core Temp again. I don't see a reason for it not to work except a problem with permissions on your system.
