Athlon 7750 BE wrong temperature

Post by kombajn »

I'm using coretemp 1.0 RC3 64bit (on Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit)
coretemp shows wrong temperature for my cpu. Under full load(prime95) it shows 44*C when easy tune5 shows 60*C (easy tune5 is a program from Gigabyte)
In Idle 27 vs 40*C
spec:
mb Ga-m61sme-s2
cpu Athlon 7750BE 2700MHz no oc

Before I change CPU from A 4000+ for 7750 both programs were showing the same temperatures. And I don't believe that 95W cpu could be so much cooler then previous 65W cpu as coretemp readings suggest.
Bios shows 35*C .

the FAQ is a bit wrong for new(er)(ish) AMDs...

core temp measures the cores (or should do)
easytune and the rest of board mfg's stuff reads the outer casing of the chip

here's where is get silly and the FAQ is wrong... the AMD core temp is now a *calculated* number from an algorithm. it's *not* a fixed offset. unfortunately - the algorithm is wrong at low temperatures. it becomes accurate *only* at a core temp of 45. source = AMD.

You're right and the FAQ needs to be updated.
I would still like to see the source of that info. Why would it suddenly become correct at or above 45C and not a different value?
