Processor speed increase on coretemp?

Post by DjLyriz »

Hello all,
I've been using coretemp on my laptops for awhile now. It's been a very useful tool to me, especially when i game. Recently i got a new laptop, installed coretemp. My processor is an Intel Core i5 560M @ 2.67 GHz, Turbo boost @ 3.2GHz. I went to copy some files today, and noticed that core temp was reporting the cpu clock as 5647MHz. Thats almost twice the rating, even with turbo boost. This laptop is not overclocked, nor would i consider it (cooling is absolute crap lol). I looked the specs up for the i5 560 M (http://ark.intel.com/products/49653/Int ... _66-GHz%29) and it says the max rating is 3.20ghz. Could this be a bug in Core Temp? Or is the i5 rated that high and intel just tells you differently....

Any ideas/input is appreciated.

*Edit* Heres a screenshot of the Core Temp Gadget, when reporting the 5ghz frequency.

*Second Edit* Seems like a Core Temp Bug
I opened CPUz to see what it reported, and got a completely different rating, that was actually more realistic for the processor..
