Fusion APU Temp anomoly

Post by andy48 »

I'm running an ASUStek E45M1-I deluxe motherboard. It has an AMD Fusion APU E-450 Dual-Core on-board processor which appears to be supported by Core Temp ("All APU Series").

The mobo comes with ASUStek's own monitoring software suite. This consistently shows the CPU temp to be quite a lot lower than Core Temp (e.g. 52 deg C versus 69 deg C). The CPU is correctly identified by Core Temp.

(My i5-2500k CPU temp with ASRock mobo software is spot on with Core Temp).

Any ideas what might be wrong, here? I don't want to fry my CPU!

It does seem that the sensors in these processor are displaying temps about 15C over the real value, similar to how Phenoms display a temperature lower by 15C
There is very little feedback from APU users, so it's hard to say if this happens to all of them. I believe that you can simply apply a -15 offset and not worry about it.

I'm in the same boat. I have a ASUS Eeebox Netop EB1021-B010E system. Running Windows 7 64 bit, my idle temperature is 55 Celsius.

Watching Windows Media Center it quickly climbs to 95 to 98 Celsius even though the average of the cpu cores is only at around 30%.

Given that the maximum operating temperature for the Zacate is only 90 Celsius, I would guess that either CoreTemp is not reading the temperatures correctly OR ASUS is not reporting the temperatures correctly (more likely).

as of yesterday core temp started to report 10 C more on my cores than the asus probe reports to me...before that it was identical....

i tend to trust the asus temps more than this simply cause i dont think that i have 35-40 C on my cores at idle 1600 mhz with a H70 watercooling...

what i simply dont understand is the variation , and why it started to occur out of the blue ...i didnt change a single bit ....

only thing changed on my system was MS Patchday including NET .4 framework update.
