Windows update broke Coretemp

Post by mfenston »

Using Windows 7 Pro. Last weekend there was a Windows update that seemed to correlate with CoreTemp failing to load.

Now a box comes up every time I try to run it saying:

CPU temperature and system information utility

CPU temperature and system information utility has stopped working

Windows is checking for a solution to the problem ...

That window then disappears ... same thing happens every time I try to load. I tried this with the latest version 1.0rc2. Any ideas?

Great program while it was running! Hoping to get it fixed to monitor when I need to blow the fan out on my Dell Latitude E6520 (machine this is currently failing on).

I too had Core Temp break on me. I just purchased an FX-8120 and an Asrock 970 Extreme 3 motherboard and after installing windows I immediately installed Core Temp to test for heat as these things are suppose to run hot. It was running low-mid 30s. I then installed all Windows updates and installed all drivers and when I ran Core Temp my readings are all low. It reports 9c at idle. 24 or so at load.

I installed the Asrock utility and the temps are reading fine with that program (low to mid 30s)

not sure which item broke as I installed a ton of updates/drivers before testing.
