Display corruption in 2.7 sidebar gadget

Post by speedy1971 »

This is true with 1.0RC2 although the screenshot was done with the special build you sent me earlier. I figured out how to attach a screenshot.

The problem looks similar to inital problems older versions ran into when IE9 first came out...

The top one is the 2.6 version, the bottom one is 2.7.

Notice, by the way, that they are also reporting slightly different values.

Does exactly the same thing I'm afraid. Are there some registry entries or old file that could possibly be corrupt?

ok, let's try something else then.
Download and run DebugView.
Then open the gadget and copy paste the error messages that you get there from the gadget.

[4732] Unable to get value of the property 'isUpdateAvailable': object is null or undefined

Are the things that show up when 2.7 gadget is launched.

There are other errors in DebugView but they are coming from iTunesHelper.exe, unrelated crappy Apple software.

Very strange problem indeed.
I've tried to hunt down and reproduce the issue without success.
It's weird since it doesn't happen all the time but in very rare and isolated cases. I'm almost certain that the problem could somehow be related to the way IE is configured on your system, or maybe something else about it.

Same problem here with gadget v2.7. I'm running IE 8.0.7600 in case that helps any. I do recall the first time launching the gadget there was an IE script debug window that I dismissed with "don't show this again" but unfortunately I did not capture the error message. Removing and re-installing made no difference.

Just another note. This is happening on my machine at work which is Windows 7 32 bit. It works fine on my PC at home which is running Win7 x64.
