Coretemp using 40-50% of cpu

Post by c0ke543 »

I downloaded the newest version the other day when I came here to ask a question. I will load into BF3 beta, and sometimes, seems like 50% of time, core temp will start to use 40-50% of my CPU power according to task manager. I will shut core down and reload it, and it'll be fine.

CPU: Core 2 Duo E6750
Mobo: MSI P6N SLI Platinum
V Card: EVGA 8800 GT

Does this problem happen randomly or after your PC was in Sleep mode?

I can't be certain if sleep mode has an effect. My computer goes in and out of sleep mode frequently. I've only noticed during playing that game that is only because my computer is using all it's resources then. I havn't seen any odd temp reading while idle. It usually stays around 30 C, and goes to 40-50 under load. I'll try and keep an eye out, and see if it starts to do it after sleep mode.

Yes, It is doing it after coming out of sleep mode regardless of what apps are running. I am running windows 7 64bit w/ the 64 bit version of coretemp, if that helps. On another note it seems the program has stop responding completely as well. It has to be shut down thru task manager. My guess is sleep mode is causing some kind of loop :/ GL~

Thanks for the update. It seems like a very specific bug. I also have a feeling that I know why/where it happens.
I'm working on a fix.

Hi,
same here. Win7 64bit, the first program after hibernation that really uses CPU (such as flashplayer) starts the problem as far as I can see.
Thanks,
Holger

I have been experiencing this same issue. Is there any update on a fix?

Not sure if a fix is already in the code, but I also have the same issue on wake from sleep. The problem does not happen very time, but I can tell when I have a problem because my fan is spinning like mad! CT has 50% of the CPU. I'm running W7, 32-bit.

tnx,

Chris

I get the same problem on XP SP2 23 bit. Main thread uses 100% of CPU core.
I attached a screeshot with the thread stack and statisctis.

I'm having the same issue. I have core temp 32 bit version on one computer, and that one is fine. the 64 bit version hangs and I need to kill it using task manager. both computers are identical. I went to uninstall the app, but it is not listed in the add/remove programs. how do i completely uninstall this so I can put a fresh copy on this pc?

If you did actually install it, and not just used the standalone zip file, then you can find it under C:\Program Files\Core Temp.

Regarding the usage problem, RC3 should be available early next week, hopefully before end of month.
